DESCRIPTION:María “La Chacha” Bermúdez\, artistic director of Olé Los Angeles\, invites audiences of all ages to experience lively\, traditional flamenco dance while learning up close about this unique art form. With live music and dancers\, the program features high-energy performances\, storytelling through movement\, and interactive moments that explore the improvisational Spanish dance. Come early as members of Flamenco! Santa Barbara lead family friendly activities. \nEach LA Soundscapes family event features a pre-concert activity and participatory artmaking. \n\n10am: Interactive activities and curated art-making in collaboration with LA Commons\n11:30am: Performance\nBest for: Ages 3–11\nAttendee tip: These are daytime events and can get sunny. Don’t forget your sunscreen and sun hats! Due to the natural shift of the sun during this morning performance\, as available\, audience members can shift into shaded locations.

SUMMARY:Celebrating 15 years of Brockus Project Studios and 25 years of Brockus Project Dance
DESCRIPTION:A 3-day celebration connecting people past and present whose lives have been impacted by the work of the Brockus Project in supporting dance in LA. \nOur opening showcase on Friday features some of the residency choreographers we have fostered. The closing showcase on Sunday features a choreography competition showcase where the audience votes to select the winner of 30 hours of free studio time! \nThe main event is Saturday\, featuring BrockusRED & friends in a short performance\, followed by a party reception with a raffle/auction and tributes to the accomplishments of the Brockus Project over the years. We aim to collect 1\,500 comments from individuals we have impacted and raise $15\,000 to support our continued growth for the next 15 years. \nBPStudios was created to provide a home base for companies that had been nomadic and rehearsing all over the city. Now they have a home where dancers meet up in the lobby and build community in a space that celebrates art and artists. \nOver the years BP has held training classes\, workshops with leading teachers\, hosted international groups\, residencies\, town halls\, gather hangouts\, after school teen programs\, in school K-12 classes\, created and produced LA Dance Festival\, combined auditions\, dance film screenings\, professional development workshops\, a food bank and thrift store\, foster kitten playtime\, produced over a hundred showcases\, performed in France\, Korea and around the country\, and so much more. \nwww.brockusprojectdance.org
