SUMMARY:Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company: Still/Here
DESCRIPTION:“An American Classic” — The New York Times \nThirty years after its premiere\, the historic dance theater work Still/Here by Bill T. Jones returns! The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company remounts this timeless piece\, celebrating its ability to evoke a spirit of survival. Created during the AIDS epidemic\, Still/Here broke boundaries and exemplified a uniquely American form of dance theater\, defining and ultimately transcending its era. Though much has changed in the world\, with another pandemic behind us\, wars raging\, and environmental strife\, the questions around mortality remain. \nThe highly formal structures of Still/Here are delivered with simplicity and sophistication\, marked by spoken text\, video portraits\, breathtaking dance and the abstract nature of gesture. \nAt the heart of Still/Here are the “Survival Workshops: Talking and Moving about Life and Death.” These workshops were conducted across the country with people living with life-threatening illness. Their words\, gestures and images inform the piece and this work is dedicated to them.

SUMMARY:float. Pleasure
DESCRIPTION:a durational meditation with performance artist Marjani Forté-Saunders and sound designer Everett Asis Saunders. \n\n\n\n\nfloat. Pleasure \nA First Draft Sharing \nMarch 28\, 2026 \n3 – 6 PM \nCamera Obscura Art Lab: 1450 Ocean Ave.\, Santa Monica\, CA 90401. \nJoin us for the first public sharing of float. Pleasure\, a durational performance meditation presented by 7NMS | M + E. \nDesigned for audiences to come and go\, this live happening unfolds inside a spatially composed\, real-time sonic environment built from referential\, found\, and soul archives by sound designer Everett Saunders. Sound and body move in continuous dialogue. \nAt its center: one performer and one sound artist in sustained exchange. Viewers witness Marjani’s deliberate practice of joy and pleasure across shifting embodied states—an evolving physical inquiry into endurance\, vitality\, and presence. Here\, pleasure is not decorative; it is structural. \nThis work forms the generative foundation for the ensemble pieces float.: Phase I & II\, offering an intimate look at the research shaping the larger project. \nAudience members may enter and exit quietly at any time. No prior dance knowledge is needed—just a willingness to listen\, observe\, and settle into the experience. \nSpace is limited. \nThis performance iteration is supported in part by the Center for Provocative Thought / Effie House and the City of Santa Monica’s Art of Recovery Microgrant Program. \nThe Camera Obscura Art Lab is situated in Palisades Park and is a short walk from the Downtown Santa Monica Metro E-Line and the entrance of the Santa Monica Pier. \nParking \nThe closest parking structure is parking structure 6 located at 1432 2nd Street Santa Monica\, 90401. Parking fees can be found here. \nPublic Transportation \nVisit the Big Blue Bus and LA Metro websites for route and schedule information. The E line is a short walk from the Camera Obscura.

SUMMARY:Jeremy Nedd: from rock to rock… aka how magnolia was taken for granite
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by a rapper’s copyright lawsuit against a video game company\, US-born Switzerland-based choreographer Jeremy Nedd’s work explores “the Milly Rock\,” a viral dance move inspired by the rapper 2 Milly. \nFive performers examine the dance move\, searching for the hidden poetry and virtuosic freedom found in social and viral dance moves.
