SUMMARY:Default: Joy
DESCRIPTION:Default: Joy is a dystopian dance-theatre work that asks a deceptively question: If everything collapses\, what is your default setting?  \nDriven by spiraling rhythms and ecstatic motion the work unfolds as a collective search for joy. Grounded footwork\, interlaced bodies\, and shifting ensemble formations generate a shared terrain where vulnerability\, resistance\, and exhilaration coexist. Through it\, joy emerges as an act of defiance. \nSet as a response to what is happening in the world\, Default: Joy aims to confront numbness\, panic\, and exhaustion\, insisting on presence and collective momentum. What remains is a state of liberation forged through intensity\, endurance\, and shared action.

DESCRIPTION:Recommended For: Actors and dancers at any stage who want to deepen physical awareness\, expressive range\, and embodied storytelling. If you want to feel more connected to your body onstage and on camera\, this workshop is a great place to start. Movement for Actors creates space to explore how physicality shapes character\, behavior\, and storytelling. By the end of the workshop\, you’ll walk away with: A clearer understanding of how your body supports your acting Practical movement habits for auditions\, rehearsal\, and scene work Greater confidence and freedom in how you physically show up as an artist This workshop is open to all levels\, including dancers who want to bring more storytelling into their physical work. SUMMARY:COMPAGNIE HERVÉ KOUBI: SOL INVICTUS
DESCRIPTION:“The dancers … could be mistaken for gods\,” raves The New Yorker. And in the hands of choreographer Hervé Koubi\, they nearly are: fierce\, weightless\, and a step beyond human. \nWith their show Sol Invictus\, Compagnie Hervé Koubi delivers a breathtaking baroque dreamscape. Muscular and sublime\, the dancers move through light and shadow\, echoing the chiaroscuro of Caravaggio and the raw physicality of street dance. \nKoubi is known for his fusion of classical dance\, capoeira\, hip-hop\, and martial arts. He draws on these influences and his French-Algerian roots to gather a collective of dancers from across the Mediterranean. They unite to explore resilience. \nNamed for the ancient Roman “Unconquered Sun” deity\, Sol Invictus is a call for unity. “Here\,” says Koubi\, “sun and dance will emerge victorious.” The show’s power comes not only from movement\, but also from a driving score\, with music by Swedish composer Mikael Karlsson\, minimalist composer Steve Reich\, and digital composer Maxime Bodson.

SUMMARY:Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company: Still/Here
DESCRIPTION:“An American Classic” — The New York Times \nThirty years after its premiere\, the historic dance theater work Still/Here by Bill T. Jones returns! The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company remounts this timeless piece\, celebrating its ability to evoke a spirit of survival. Created during the AIDS epidemic\, Still/Here broke boundaries and exemplified a uniquely American form of dance theater\, defining and ultimately transcending its era. Though much has changed in the world\, with another pandemic behind us\, wars raging\, and environmental strife\, the questions around mortality remain. \nThe highly formal structures of Still/Here are delivered with simplicity and sophistication\, marked by spoken text\, video portraits\, breathtaking dance and the abstract nature of gesture. \nAt the heart of Still/Here are the “Survival Workshops: Talking and Moving about Life and Death.” These workshops were conducted across the country with people living with life-threatening illness. Their words\, gestures and images inform the piece and this work is dedicated to them.
